"Buddy" Cater (R-GA) andCongresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) introduced a bipartisan resolution to recognize Rosalynn Smith Carter's 50 year legacy in mental health advocacy. Recently in September, Senator David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the Senate companion to this resolution.Since her time in the White House, Former First Lady Rosalynn Smith Carter has dedicated her life to helping others,Carter said.Certainly one of her most admirable missions has been her work on mental health. She has fought to end the stigma against mental health illnesses and to increase access to mental health care. There is no question that Mrs. Carter has made Georgians proud with this work. As we continue these efforts to support mental health issues, Mrs. Carter deserves to be recognized for championing this fight. Former First Lady Rosalynn Smith Carter has spent her lives work improving the lives of those affected by mental health disorders and substance use disorders in the United States and around the world,"Dingell said.Over 50 years of advocacy to destigmatize mental health and end discrimination against affected people, Mrs. Carter continues her work to this day and we are proud express our profound gratitude and to honor her enduring legacy with this bipartisan, bicameral resolution.
