Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) introduced the For the Parents Act, which will prohibit federal funding of public schools and institutions of higher education that teach the racist and divisive ideology known as Critical Race Theory (CRT). Taxpayer dollars should not flow towards institutions that peddle lies and hate to our students and children. The For the Parents Act protects the integrity of federally-funded curricula and parents’ rights to have a say in their child’s education. “America is not an inherently racist nation. We were built on the premise that all are created equal and are the freest nation to ever exist. Our children should learn about the whole of the American story, from the sin of slavery to the abolitionists and suffragettes. But they should do so in a way that inspires and unites them as a people to make the world a better place,” said Carter. Across the nation, parents are showing up at school board meetings to protest curriculum containing controversial CRT teachings, which divides students up into victim and oppressor groups based solely on the color of their skin. “With this bill, we are sending the message to our youth that no matter the color of their skin, there is room for them to succeed in America,” said Carter. “Martin Luther King Jr. famously longed for the day that we would ‘live in a nation where [children] will not be judged by the color of their skin.’ CRT will make that dream unattainable.” Original co-sponsors for the bill include Reps.
