(Sept. 3, 2021) – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) introduced the American Genetic Privacy Act of 2021. Rep. Burchett's legislation aims to protect the genetic information Americans share with genetic testing companies from being sold to entities affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). "It takes a great deal of trust for Americans to share their sensitive genetic information with DNA testing companies," Rep. Burchett said. "Selling this information to malicious foreign actors is a huge violation of trust and morally unacceptable. DNA testing companies must keep Americans' genetic information private so it isn't used against us by the Chinese Communist Party." Specifically, Rep.
