This bill amends the Clean Air Act to prohibit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from granting waivers that limit the use or sale of new cars with gas-powered engines. This bill was brought to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in response to California’s Air Resource Board’s decision to effectively ban the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. “Electric vehicles are out of most Americans’ price range, and they have a whole bunch of problems that gas-powered cars don’t have,” said Rep. Burchett. “The government has no business passing regulations that effectively force people to buy cars that are more expensive and less reliable. We need to leave those choices to the buyers.” According to J.D. Power, fewer than 1% of cars and trucks on the road are electric, and a recent study showed that 20% of electric vehicle users who visited a charging station did not charge their vehicles, with reasons ranging from broken chargers to long lines. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T00:37:48Z
