https://calvert.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-calvert-secures-funding-riverside-county-sheriff-s-department Rep. Calvert Secures Funding for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department 2022-06-29 2022 2022-06 Republican House CA Ken Calvert C000059 calvert.house.gov calvert https://calvert.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) announced that, at his request, funding for Riverside County Sheriff's Department was included in the Fiscal Year 2023 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Bill. The bill was advanced last night by the House Appropriations Committee and will now head to the House floor for consideration. Funding included in the bill for local projects is allocated within their respective agency program accounts and does not raise the overall spending level of the bill. The bill included $515,000 for the Rapid DNA project, which was requested by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The funding would be used to procure Rapid DNA technology. "The funding I was able to secure will allow the Riverside County Sheriff's Department to acquire breakthrough Rapid DNA technology that will enable them to more quickly process DNA samples," said Rep. Calvert. "With this tool in place, the Sheriff's Department will be able to bring criminals to justice more expeditiously. I appreciate Sheriff Chad Bianco and his team for working on this important project that will allow them to better serve the people of Riverside County." "The Riverside County Sheriff's Department appreciates Congressman Ken Calvert's support for our Rapid DNA project," said Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. "This equipment is a huge asset for our department. It will single-handedly improve the quality and timeliness of our Coroner forensic services by drastically reducing processing time to identify victim remains from months down to hours. This funding will help reduce the backlog of unidentified decedents in the County and bring closure to families." ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T18:13:54Z
