Under the guise of debt reduction, the Republican's plan increases prescription drug costs for millions of seniors while also ending free preventive services provided under the Affordable Care Act. In addition, the Republican budget ends Medicare in its current form in exchange for vouchers that seniors would use to buy private insurance. However, the estimated cost for a typical senior buying a plan equal to Medicare will be over $20,000, leaving seniors to pay at least double in new out-of-pocket expenses by 2020.
