United States, a lawsuit that seeks to strike down protections for 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions: "Eight years ago the Affordable Care Act was passed to protect families with pre-existing conditions like asthma, diabetes, cancer, mental illness, and substance abuse," said Congressman André Carson. "Today, Republicans are choosing to sabotage that law and the millions who have gained protection from discrimination on the basis of a pre-existing condition by pushing a lawsuit that would spell the end of basic protections that prevent insurers from charging more for people with a pre-existing condition or denying them coverage. If successful, today's lawsuit would be the furthest step yet in limiting Hoosiers' access to quality, affordable health coverage. Over 2.7 million Hoosiers have a pre-existing condition, including 377,100 children. By refusing to defend the law's protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions the Trump Administration is putting them all at risk." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:06:18Z
