This award will assist very low-income homeowners repair and rehabilitate their homes in rural areas. I am a strong supporter of federal programs that improve our housing inventory, said Rep. Cartwright a member of the House Appropriations Committee. These investments not only provide access to affordable, safe housing, but also keep our rural communities vibrant and stable. The Redevelopment Authority of Monroe County, having been awarded the Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) funds, feels they are an essential tool and great incentive to the very-low-income residents of Monroe County. These funds have gone a long way to ensure that home owners in Monroe County have a safe and decent home in which to live, said Martha Robins, Executive Director. These HPG funds will be available to only very-low income qualified applicants providing rehabilitation services for 3 to 4 owner-occupied dwelling units in Monroe County. As the administering funding agency for the County's Rehabilitation Program, these additional funds will assist and support the goal of preserving the County's housing stock.
