https://case.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=744 Case Announces $339 Million In Federal Assistance For Critical Hawaii Bridge Projects 2022-01-15 2022 2022-01 Democrat House HI Ed Case C001055 case.house.gov case https://case.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx?DocumentTypeID=27&Page=23 scraper (Washington, DC) – Congressman Ed Case (HI-01) today announced that Hawai‘i is receiving another major round of funding from the historic $1 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Package (BIP) passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden in late 2021. “This second round of funding under BIP amounts to $339 million over five years, with $68 million set for release this year, that will go to critical bridge and culvert projects throughout the State of Hawai‘i,” said Case, a member of the House Appropriations Committee responsible for allocating funding each year for federal government agencies, departments and organizations. “These are the latest of many disbursements to Hawai’i under BIP, the largest federal reinvestment ever in our backbone infrastructure across the country,” said Case. “BIP will eventually deliver some $3 billion to our state for roads and bridges, water infrastructure, climate resilience projects, access to the Internet and much more.” The Hawai’i Department of Transportation (DOT) maintains this priority list of bridges and culverts across the state requiring action based on their condition List of Bridge Priorities Based on Bridge Condition | State of Hawaii Department of Transportation The DOT listed these bridge repairs and improvements programmed to advance in 2022 utilizing the BIP funding (over and above priority bridges already funded with regular annual federal assistance): • H-2 84" Culvert Emergency Repairs $10M • Wailua River Bridge Scour Repairs $30M • Hamakua Coast Bridge Repairs (Nanue, Kolekole, Hakalau, Wailuku, Paheehee) $170M • H-2 Culvert Panakauahi Repairs $775K • Kaupuni Stream Bridge Rehab $1.4M • Kapalama Canal (EB) Rehab $2.6M • Niu Stream Bridge Rehab $1.8M • Culvert Repairs Statewide $20M • Waiahole Bridge $20M • Waipilopilo Bridge $15M Case said this latest round of funding from BIP follows the first round of funds announced last month of more than $49 million targeted for airport projects throughout the state, with the largest amount, $21 million, going to the Daniel K.
