In this role, Congressman Castro will help steer the CHC’s legislative priorities.    “I am grateful to my CHC colleagues for entrusting me with this new responsibility,” said Rep. Castro. “As we look ahead to the 115th Congress, great challenges loom. We will need to contend with a new administration and a President who displayed appalling hostility toward the Hispanic community throughout his campaign. More than ever, the CHC must be united, determined, and strategic in its efforts to improve educational outcomes, expand economic opportunity, and pass meaningful immigration reform. I am eager to tackle these and other matters with my fellow Caucus members. I thank outgoing CHC Chair Linda Sanchez for her leadership, and I look forward to working with incoming CHC Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham to advance our Caucus’ goals in Congress.”   The Congressional Hispanic Caucus was founded in December 1976 as a legislative service organization of the United States House of Representatives. Today, the CHC is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC aims to address national and international issues and the impact these policies have on the Hispanic community. The function of the Caucus is to serve as a forum for the Hispanic Members of Congress to coalesce around a collective legislative agenda. The Caucus is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.  ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
