The National Recording Registry is a federal archive managed by the Library of Congress that works to preserve sounds with cultural and historical significance to the United States. “For generations, songs from Latino artists have formed the soundtrack to American life. As the Library of Congress works to enshrine the great sounds of the United States into our nation’s historical record, public nominations to the National Recording Registry will shine a spotlight on the Latino artists who have left an indelible mark on our nation. As a child of the ‘70s, I’m especially excited to see nominations from young adults who can add the songs of their childhood to our nation’s playlist,” said Congressman Castro. To qualify for nomination, songs must be at least ten years old. Songs must be submitted to castro.house.gov/songs by November 26, 2022.
