The provisions related to the riverfront park were included in S. 612, the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act, which passed the House by a vote of 360-61. The legislation is expected to be considered by the Senate this weekend. “Cincinnati’s riverfront park is the centerpiece of the revitalization of downtown,” said Chabot. “The legislation we passed today will enable the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct the studies and preliminary work necessary to move forward with the final phases of the park. I thank my colleagues for their support of this project, which is vitally important to our community.”Specifically, S. 612 authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to study the final “flood risk reduction, ecosystem restoration, and recreation components” of the riverfront park’s master plan. If the Army Corps determines it is feasible to move forward, the legislation authorizes $30 million to complete the final stages of project. In October, Chabot joined Congressman Brad Wenstrup and Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown in requesting the inclusion of these provisions in the final version of S. 612. The redevelopment of Cincinnati’s riverfront has long been a priority for Congressman Chabot. In years past, Chabot has helped obtain federal funding for, among other things, the earlier phases of the riverfront park, the new floodwall for the riverfront, and components of the redesigned Ft. Washington Way, which was the first step of the redevelopment plan. Chabot also worked to gain approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Surface Transportation Board for the abandonment of railroad lines located along the riverfront. The track abandonment was necessary to clear property needed for the park and other riverfront projects. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
