Cheney Honors The 150th Anniversary of Womens Suffrage in Wyoming 2019-12-10 2019 2019-12 Republican House WY Liz Cheney C001109 cheney.house.gov     legacy Washington Wyoming Congresswoman and House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) issued the following statement Tuesday in honor of the 150th anniversary of Wyoming granting women the right to vote: 150 years ago today, the Wyoming territorial legislature passed the act giving women the right to vote and run for office for the first timea full 50 years before all of America's women earned this right. Iam grateful to all of the strong Wyoming womenincluding my mother, my grandmothers, and my great-grandmotherwho are such tremendousinspirations and role models. As we observe the 150th Anniversary of this landmark achievement, it is important that we pause and reflect on all that we have accomplished, while also looking forward to the boundless opportunities that await us. If we remember the groundbreaking nature of our state and continue to channel that spirit going forward, we have a bright future ahead. Today, we honor the trailblazing spirit and determination of all our strong Wyoming women, and pledge to continue to fight everyday on behalf of freedom. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
