President Trump abused his office, the enormous power of the presidency, to solicit foreign interference in an American election, specifically to help in his re-election. His actions undermined our national security. President Trump put his own personal, political interests ahead of our country's interest. His conduct makes him a clear and present danger to both our democracy and our national security. The articles of impeachment that we developed in the Judiciary Committee capture the scope of his most serious misconduct, including referencing his pattern of wrongdoing. In our country, no one is above the law, not even the President. Donald Trump has given us no other choice than to move forward with impeachment. Nearly 250 years ago, our Founding Fathers envisioned that our country might face a crisis like the one before us today.
