The project, selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will test transportation capabilities and deployment of Advanced Air Mobility for cargo and personnel for flights over the Gulf of America, and to crucial locations for the energy industry in Louisiana. Today’s groundbreaking marks the start of construction of the facilities, and once underway, this program will improve connectivity for offshore and coastal communities. Congressman Higgins was a vocal advocate for Louisiana’s selection in the eVTOL eIPP program, delivering two letters to DOT and FAA leadership in support of this program for the state.
