The USDA is financing the project through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program, which provides funding to rural areas with populations of 10,000 or less to modernize outdated pipes, service lines, and water systems to protect public health and safety. "Someone's zip code shouldn't determine whether or not they have access to safe, reliable, and clean drinking water," said Congressman Cleaver. "For far too long our nation has failed to invest in the critical infrastructure necessary to support our growing population. With this substantial investment in an upgraded water distribution system, Missourians in Grain Valley can rest easy knowing that the water they're drinking each and every day is of the highest quality and always available. I applaud the USDA for their dedicated service to rural Americans, and I will continue to advocate for federal investments in infrastructure projects like this to ensure our nation can build back better than ever and compete in the 21st century." As the population of Grain Valley continues to grow, water distribution lines must be upgraded to meet additional demand. Planned improvements include replacement of the existing 4-inch distribution line with 8,500 linear feet of 12-inch distribution line, which will help support new economic and residential development by providing all users with safe and reliable water service. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:03:51Z
