The historic tax cut for working families—included in the American Rescue Plan supported by Congressman Cleaver—benefited more than 1.1 million children in the Show-Me state with families receiving an average payment of $444. "At a time when tens of thousands of Missouri families are still struggling to pay rent and keep food on the table, the expanded Child Tax Credit has put more money into their bank account to afford the essentials," said Congressman Cleaver. "Not only does this give our children a greater opportunity to succeed, but it helps to stimulate local economies and sustain small businesses throughout our state. I was proud to support this historic tax cut for working class families, and I will do everything possible to ensure it becomes permanent." According to the JEC's study, the expanded Child Tax Credit generated $18.6 billion in economic activity in local economies nationwide, including more than $366 million in Missouri, which contributed to job growth and supported small businesses.
