Clyburn will kick off his Help is Here Town Hall Tour to discuss how American Rescue Plan provisions benefit families and communities in the Sixth Congressional District. These benefits include the expanded Child Tax Credit, which will provide qualified parents with advanced monthly payments of up to $300 per child starting on July 15. The IRS will have representatives at each town hall to assist attendees with accessing their Child Tax Credit payments. Additionally, Congressman Clyburn will highlight increased Affordable Care Act subsidies and the need to close the Medicaid coverage gap in non-expansion states, which will help district residents access affordable health care. “We are emerging from a very difficult period in our nation’s history. The challenges of COVID-19 required Congress to double down on behalf of the American people,” said Congressman Clyburn. “These town halls will give me the opportunity to hear from my constituents about their concerns and inform them of the numerous resources made available by Democrats through the passage of the American Rescue Plan. We have made tremendous progress in the last six months, but we must continue the great work to ensure we make America’s greatness accessible and affordable for all.” To expand access to the vaccine, Congressman Clyburn has partnered with local community health centers to provide vaccinations to all eligible South Carolinians at each town hall site. As Chair of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, Congressman Clyburn encourages all South Carolinians to get vaccinated to protect against the deadly virus.
