These significant federal investments will help keep Memphis at the forefront of the medical research community. HHS allocates millions of dollars for medical research each year through its various institutes and research centers. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is the recipient of a $460,489 grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). The funds will help support research into the biology behind these disorders. In addition, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has awarded UTHSC a grant for $342,000.
