One, for $697,992, from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, is for research on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)-causing proteins. The second, for $455,000, from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is for research on inflammatory caspases in innate immunity and inflammation. Three grants from the National Cancer Institute, for $688,385, $767,328, and $49,114, will support research on cardiovascular health outcomes, neuroblastomas, and acute myeloid leukemia respectively.
