The book will look at how American sports writers and sports culture were affected by the Civil Rights Movement and the rise of televised sports from the 1950s to the 1970s. Congressman Cohen made the following statement: “I congratulate Professor Goudsouzian on being awarded this prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities grant to pursue his book on sports and sports coverage during the Civil Rights era. I also look forward to reading it once it is completed.” Professor Goudsouzian, a specialist in 20th century American history, is the author of five previous books, including, most recently, The Men and the Moment: The Election of 1968 and the Rise of Partisan Politics in America (2019). 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T21:36:13Z
