Congressman Cohen originally formed the first Congressional Collegiate Sports Caucus with former Texas Congressman Joe Barton in 2011. Congressman Cohen made the following statement: The enjoyment of college sports is one of our nation's most important pastimes andisa major component of taxpayer-supported public and private universities. But it's clear the fairness and integrity of college sports is rapidly deteriorating. From the National Collegiate Athletic Association's eligibility decisions, like the one currently compromising the future aspirations of student-athletes like James Wiseman at the University of Memphis and Chase Young at Ohio State,to financialcompensation opportunities for athletes currently prohibited from profiting from their own success, to sex scandal coverups, Congressional review of collegiate sports is critically important. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
