The measure establishes a grant program to help state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies purchase body-worn cameras, implement body-worn camera programs, and report to Congress on the impact and effectiveness of the use of body-worn cameras. A version of this bill was included in the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Congressman Cohen made the following statement: “Over the past several years, the wider availability of video has shined a much-needed light on deadly encounters with law enforcement. Body-worn cameras help provide often critical evidence and can help restore some much-needed trust between police and the communities they serve.” Congressman Cohen first introduced a version of the CAMERA bill in 2017 and it was incorporated into the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in 2021 which passed the House in March of that year. | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |
