The bipartisan bill, which Congressman Cohen introduced with Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), would require the FAA to establish minimum sizes for seats and distances between rows to ensure that passenger safety is not put at risk by the recent shrinking of seat sizes. It was included in the House-passed version of FAA reauthorization legislation.Congressman Cohen made his comments today at a House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure hearing.See a recent news story on the issue here. As a matter of health and safety, I urge the Senate to adopt the SEAT Act provision included in the House bill, H.R. 4, the Congressman said at the hearing. The U.S. Court of Appeals found FAA's justification for not reviewing the safety risks of more cramped passengers vaporous' and now the Inspector General is auditing the FAA for its failure to take this issue seriously. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
