This important legislation will ensure that our men and women in uniform, Department of Defense civilian employees and contractors who support service members, as well as National Guard troops activated in the event of a presidential emergency declaration, are paid if the government does not remain open: I am voting to keep the government open and working with my colleagues on this effort. Members of our military and those who support them need to be assured that they will be paid in the event Washington fails to keep the government open. These patriots are on the frontlines protecting our freedoms and are engaged in ongoing conflict. We owe it to them to keep the governments promise by paying them on time and in full. Right now in Virginias 10th Congressional District, we have a Winchester and Leesburg based National Guard unit deployed overseas, and this legislation would make sure they are paid on time so they can be focused on the mission at hand. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
