| https://comstock.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/comstock-votes-jobs-bill | Comstock Votes For Jobs Bill | 2015-10-27 | 2015 | 2015-10 | Republican | House | VA | Barbara Comstock | C001105 | comstock.house.gov | legacy | Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) was joined by Catoctin Creek Distilling Company Founder Scott Harris and Orbital ATK, Inc., CEO David W. Thompson in releasing the following statement after the House passed H.R. 597, To Reauthorize the Export-Import Bank of the United States by a vote of 313 to 118 today. I am pleased to have voted for this jobs legislation today so that America may continue to compete globally against our foreign competitors, said Congresswoman Comstock. We received strong support from constituents for this legislation. The reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank means more economic growth and prosperity for the entire region whether it is distilling spirits at Catoctin Creek Distillery in Purcellville or building satellites at Orbital ATK in Dulles. It is estimated that between 2007 and 2015 the Export-Import Bank financed or insured $2 billion of exports for 125 companies within the Commonwealth. At a near-zero risk to taxpayers, these loans promote growth in businesses of all sizes and generate much-needed revenue for the U.S. Treasury. In this time of economic hardship where the job growth in Virginia is anemic, we must provide American businesses with the tools needed to thrive in an ever-competitive global market. Passage of this bill saves and creates American jobs. I am very glad to see the Ex-Im bank finally getting its vote in Congress, said Catoctin Creek Distillery Founder Scott Harris. The Ex-Im bank has been crucial to Catoctin Creek Distillery, a small business in Loudoun County, Virginia, as we expand our market into Europe and Australia. The programs offered by Ex-Im enable a small business like mine to offer credit terms to international customers, at no cost to U.S. taxpayers. Without Ex-Im, we'd have a very difficult time expanding our international business. I want to thank Rep. Barbara Comstock for her strong support on the reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, said Orbital ATK CEO David W. Thompson. The men and women of Orbital ATK rely on the good-paying jobs that high-tech satellite export sales create, not only at our company, but in our supply chain as well. We are all very appreciative of Rep. Comstocks support. The Ex-Im Bank is a critical resource to help us remain globally competitive with overseas manufacturers who have access to low-cost government backed financing through their national export credit agencies. Rep. Comstock recognized that this issue is about maintaining American jobs and growing the economy. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
