The first and most important role of our government is to protect the people. This bill will pause the refugee program for both Syrian and Iraqi refugees until the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Director of the FBI, and the Director of National Intelligence unanimously certify that each individual applicant does not pose a threat to national security or the safety of the American people. Just last month, FBI Director James Comey said to Congress,Ifwe dont know much about somebody, there wont be anything in our data, and adding I cant sit here and offer anybody an absolute assurance that theres no risk associated with this. This legislation is an additional step in enhancing our national security efforts in dealing with ISIS and terrorist threats and protecting the American people. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
