Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released the following statement upon passage: This is a historic day. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act delivers on the promise Republicans made to the American people to provide financial relief to hardworking families across our nation, create a pro-jobs business environment, and encourage investments in our economy. American families will see lower tax rates starting the first day of 2018. The child tax credit doubles to $2,000 per child, and by doubling the standard deduction families will pay no taxes on the first $24,000 they make each year. This legislation also repeals Obamacares individual mandate, putting American families back in charge of their own healthcare decisions. This legislation provides well-deserved tax cuts to American families and ultimately, a blueprint to grow the American economy- creating even more jobs and wage increases for hardworking Texans. I applaud the hard work of Chairman Brady, the Conferees, and all those who have remained committed to passing this historic tax reform package.
