Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) announced that in response to community concerns, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be implementing a new flight path away from Lake Arrowhead. The FAA plans to publish and begin using this new flight path, called JCKIE TWO, on December 5, 2019. On January 25, 2018, members of the Lake Arrowhead community came together to express their concerns with the current flight path and the noise issues that it created. Following that meeting, FAA officials began to work on a new flight path to address these issues. Their work produced the JCKIE TWO flight path, which will move aircraft away from populated areas. Rep. Cook has had multiple meetings with FAA officials to discuss the need for a permanent route change that would not disturb the Lake Arrowhead community. During the development of the new route, he worked closely with the FAA to support the creation of a nighttime flight path away from population centers to reduce the impact of noise on the community. Rep. Cook said, "I'm glad the FAA has heard the voice of my constituents whose quality of life has been affected by this issue. Since it was first brought to my attention, I've worked with Supervisor Janice Rutherford, as well as my colleagues in the House and Senate, to resolve this problem. I'd also like to thank David Caine and the entire Quiet Skies Lake Arrowhead group for their work and tireless advocacy. A member of the House Natural Resources and Armed Services Committees, Cook served as an infantry officer and retired after 26 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.
