Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) named Tim Itnyre as his new Chief of Staff, following the departure of John Sobel, his longtime Chief of Staff. Sobel is departing Cook's office after nearly eight years as Chief of Staff to move to the private sector. Itnyre has been a part of Rep. Cook's congressional staff for nearly eight years, including almost six years as Legislative Director and, more recently, 20 months as District Director. Itnyre said, I'm excited to take on this new role in Rep. Cook's office. Even though the Congressman is in the final months of his term, there is still a lot of work to be done. COVID Relief, the annual military funding bill, and other critical local priorities need to be addressed, and I look forward to working to help Rep. Cook close out his service in Congress on a strong note. Cook said, I want to thank John for over thirteen years of public service, first in the California State Assembly and later in Congress. He built strong teams that have been invaluable to our victories and accomplishments through the years. I wish him all the best. Cook continued, Tim has worked in my Congressional Office for nearly eight years now and has experience running both my legislative program in DC and my district office. He's lived in the Eighth District for most of his life and knows the issues that are important to my constituents. I'm confident he brings the experience and knowledge necessary to fill this key role on my team. Additionally, Kellie Hartl has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff and Dakota Higgins has been promoted to District Director. These staffing changes will take effect on Monday, October 5. A member of the House Natural Resources and Armed Services Committees, Cook served as an infantry officer and retired after 26 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.
