Angie Craig Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Improve Rural Newspaper Delivery 2024-07-23 2024 2024-07 Democrat House MN Angie Craig C001119 craig.house.gov craig https://craig.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, DC – Amid slow mail service across Minnesota, U.S. Representative Angie Craig today introduced a bill to help improve rural newspaper delivery. Rep. Craig’s bipartisan bill would limit price increases on stamps until USPS achieves at least a 95% on-time delivery rate for periodicals, as highlighted in their own plan, or an improvement of at least 2 percentage points. Rep. Craig’s bill would also require USPS to report annually to the U.S. Postal Regulatory Commission on its progress – including on-time delivery data for newspapers in its periodical service performance measurement. “Timely newspaper delivery service is vital to ensuring our rural communities can stay informed. This bill will help ensure just that while forcing USPS to justify their price increases through improved mail delivery,” said Rep. Craig. This bill is part of Rep. Craig’s push to improve mail delivery in the South Metro. Most recently, Rep. Craig joined a bipartisan call with members of the House and Senate from Minnesota and North Dakota to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, urging him to implement recommendations outlined in the recent USPS Inspector General audit.
