Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed rule to exempt livestock producers from reporting animal waste emissions under Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) report requirements: I am pleased by the commonsense action taken by EPA under President Trump to lift the burden off many of our agriculture producers in North Dakota. By cutting the red tape of regulations, livestock producers don't have to worry about another regulation irrelevant to them. And, we restore the focus of the reporting requirements on the emergency situations for which they were intended. Cramer was an original co-sponsor of H.R. 5275 to provide a statutory exemption from certain CERCLA notice requirements and penalties for releases of hazardous substances from animal waste at farms.
