The agreement will modernize and replace the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It includes stronger protections for American workers and enforceable labor standards, as well as environmental protections. It eliminates the Trump Administration's threat that the United States could walk away entirely from the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, which would devastate U.S. jobs and our economy. In Florida alone, trade with Canada and Mexico supports 750,400 jobs and $12.2 billion in exports.Thanks to the hard work of our negotiators in the People's House, USMCA has vastly improved since the beginning of this process,said Rep. CristThe renegotiated agreement will bring generic drugs to market sooner and includes strong new enforcement standards to hold our trading partners accountable. These hard won provisions will help level the unfair playing field created by the original NAFTA agreement. That's important because we know that in a fair fight, Florida workers will always win.
