Right now, roughly 42 million Americans—including over 3.5 million Texans—are going without their November SNAP benefits because of this administration’s deliberate refusal to release already-approved funding. Another 6.7 million mothers, infants, and children risk losing access to WIC, which provides critical nutrition support for growing families. “No president should be able to hold hungry families hostage because they want to play political games,” said Rep. Crockett. “In Texas, we’re talking about parents skipping meals so their kids can eat and seniors rationing groceries because their benefits haven’t come in. It’s shameful, and it’s preventable.
