From grants to assist with housing and infrastructure, to loans to help small entrepreneurs get their businesses back up and running, to monetary assistance for our agriculture community, this legislation will help ensure the recovery in Monroe and Miami-Dade counties continues uninterrupted.While there is still a great deal of work to be done, Im proud this Congress is taking yet another important step to helping Americans in communities across the country, and back home in Florida, recover from this years natural disasters. BACKGROUND The bill allocates $81 billion in funding for several key disaster relief programs for disaster-stricken California, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Louisiana, Texas, and Florida. The disaster relief package includes funding for the following disaster relief programs: $26 billion for Community Development Block Grants Disaster Recovery; $12.5 billion to assist communities in protecting against future disasters, protecting taxpayer-investments from recurring costs of rebuilding after disaster; $12.1 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers to repair existing projects damaged by natural disasters and for studies on how to reduce the risk of future disasters; $2.6 billion for agricultural assistance, including support for crop losses in disaster-designated areas; $400 million for emergency conservation efforts; and $1.66 billion for Small Business Administration disaster loans to assist small businesses that have suffered extreme setbacks due to disaster. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
