| https://dankildee.house.gov/media/press-releases/statement-congressman-dan-kildee-president-trump-s-regulation-ban-bump-stocks | Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on President Trumps Regulation to Ban Bump Stocks | 2018-12-18 | 2018 | 2018-12 | Democrat | House | MI | Dan Kildee | K000380 | dankildee.house.gov | legacy | Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) released the following statement after the Department of Justice issued a regulation banning bump stocks under the National Firearms Act of 1934: Dangerous bump stocks and any device that acts like a machine gun has no place on America's streets. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives previously concluded that bump stocks cannot be banned with federal regulation, so I am concerned President Trump's regulation will not get the job done. Congress must act. That is why I have joined my Republican and Democratic colleagues to introduce the Closing the Bump Stock Loophole Act that would close this dangerous bump stock loophole to make our communities safer. Republicans in Congress, however, have continued to block this bill. I am ready to work with anyone, including the President, who wants to pass legislation to get bump stocks off of the streets. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
