| https://dankildee.house.gov/media/press-releases/statement-congressman-dan-kildee-refugee-crisis-terror-attack-paris | Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Refugee Crisis, Terror Attack in Paris | 2015-11-17 | 2015 | 2015-11 | Democrat | House | MI | Dan Kildee | K000380 | dankildee.house.gov | legacy | Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement on the ongoing refugee crisis and terrorist threat posed by ISIS: In the dangerous world we live in, and certainly after the terrorist attack in Paris, people's anxieties and fears are understandable. ISIS and other terrorist organizations pose a real threat to our common values, and they must be defeated. Our first priority must always be protecting Americans from harm. That includes a continued rigorous screening process that ensures law enforcement agencies have the proper resources to conduct background screenings, health checks and in-person interviews for every refugee seeking asylum in the U.S. We also must remember that refugees who are leaving their homes, overwhelmingly women and children, are victims of terror themselves. They are fleeing the same violence we saw in Paris. America is a nation of immigrants, and with vigorous safeguards I know that we can both protect the security of Americans while honoring our country's values to help the vulnerable and oppressed. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
