This annual authorization bill directs funding to the Department of Defense. Former Army Ranger Warren Davidson (R-OH) voted to pass the bill. After voting for the bill, he made the following statement: “The Defense bill was not perfect. In fact, earlier this year I joined 75 Republicans who opposed the House version and worked to get meaningful improvements, dropping controversial measures such as requiring women to register for selective service, red flag laws, and the creation of an “office of extremism” inside the DOD. “National security is the most essential function of the federal government. Some important wins in the bill: more pay for our troops, important resources for Wright-Patterson AFB’s core missions, securing a strong future for America’s only tank plant in Lima, Ohio, and a focus on readiness while addressing persistent problems like ongoing sexual harassment that have harmed our soldiers without resolution for too long.
