In a letter to leaders of both parties, Davids called for an end to partisan bickering and instead for them to work together to get relief into the hands of those who need it most. Coronavirus cases are skyrocketing, our hospitals are being pushed to the brink, and our workers and small businesses are continuing to suffer. We cannot, in good conscience, go back to our districts for the Holiday recess while millions continue to suffer without help from their government. We need leaders in both parties to stay at the negotiating table until we reach a bipartisan deal that provides for the health, safety, and economic security of the people in this country, said Davids. While coronavirus cases are on the rise in Kansas and across the country, many key relief measures are set to expire at the end of the year leaving families, workers and small businesses without much-needed support. Davids has expressed support for a new bipartisan aid proposal as the framework for negotiations, which has quickly gained momentum in the House and Senate. The basis of any relief package must include providing resources for the expansion of widespread and rapid testing, increased access to personal protective equipment for our frontline workers, funding for our hospitals, help for small businesses, unemployment and housing assistance, accountability and transparency measures in the distribution of relief funds, and importantly, support for state and local governments who are fighting this virus head on, said Davids.
