As Small Business Saturday is four days away, Davids, SBA Regional Administrator Mindy Brissey, and Johnson County Commissioner Becky Fast visited Sandhills Brewing and Mission: Board Games, small businesses located along Johnson Drive. Davids serves as a member of the U.S. House Small Business Committee. “Kansas small businesses are at the heart of our community and our economy, especially during the busy holiday season,” said Davids. “I’ll continue standing up for local small business owners through my role on the U.S. House Small Business Committee, so they can support our economy, their families, and their employees. This Small Business Saturday and throughout the season, I hope we can embrace a sense of community spirit by choosing to shop locally in the Kansas Third District." “Local entrepreneurs really form the pulse of Greater Kansas City, playing a crucial role in shaping the distinctive character of the region and contributing to its economic vitality,” said Mindy Brissey, Regional Administrator, SBA Region XII. Last year, Davids released a report on the recent local small business growth. She also shared what she is doing in Congress to support that growth, including voting to strengthen domestic supply chains and introducing legislation to support women and veteran business owners. Key findings include: In 2021, 10,600 new business applications were filed in Kansas’ Third District, up from an average of 7,500 since 2019. The Kansas Small Business Development Center served 1,203 clients in 2021, leading to $49 million in annual sales, 876 jobs created, and 24 new businesses.
