https://davids.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-davids-commends-usda-research-facilities-relocation-kansas-city Rep. Davids Commends USDA Research Facilities Relocation to Kansas City 2019-06-13 2019 2019-06 Democrat House KS Sharice Davids D000629 davids.house.gov     legacy Rep. Davids commended today's announcement by the USDA that it will move its' Economic Research Service (ERS) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) offices to the Kansas City Metro region, bringing with it an estimated 700 good-paying federal jobs. I'm pleased the USDA has chosen the Kansas City Metro as the site to relocate its research facilities, and I'm proud to have been a part of the bipartisan effort to advocate for this move. The Kansas City Metro is in the middle of the National Biosciences Corridor that stretches from Manhattan, KS to Columbia, MO, so this selection makes all the sense in the world, said Davids. Rep. Davids joined the Kansas and Missouri congressional delegation to highlight why the Kansas City-area should be selected as the new headquarters for the USDA's major research facilities in a letter to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue in May. USDA estimates a savings of nearly $300 million over a 15-year period on employment costs and rent or about $20 million per year due to relocation to Kansas City, allowing for more funding for needs like rural prosperity and agricultural competitiveness. There's a reason why my mom chose to stay and raise my brothers and me in Kansas it's a great place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to working with Secretary Perdue and his staff to ensure a smooth transition for our newest Kansans, said Davids. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
