https://davids.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-davids-statement-passage-raise-wage-act Rep. Davids Votes to Raise the Federal Minimum Wage, Help Hard-working Kansans 2019-07-18 2019 2019-07 Democrat House KS Sharice Davids D000629 davids.house.gov     legacy After more than a decade with no raise in the federal minimum wage the longest period in U.S. history I was proud to vote today for a phased-in increase to the federal minimum wage to help hard-working Kansans and their families. The Raise the Wage Act would increase wages for up to 27.3 million Americans, helping to create an economy that works for everyone, not just wealthy corporations and special interests. I was also proud to co-sponsor a bipartisan amendment to make sure we're examining the economic and employment impacts of the bill midway through implementation so that Congress can get a clear understanding of the impact of this legislation and take any needed action to ensure our workers and businesses can thrive. I had also pushed for a tax credit to help our small businesses cover the expense of increased wages and I was disappointed it was not included, but I'll continue to work with my colleagues on the House Small Business Committee to champion Kansas small businesses and set them up for success. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
