Davids Votes to Condemn Attacks on Health Care | 2019-04-03 | 2019 | 2019-04 | Democrat | House | KS | Sharice Davids | D000629 | davids.house.gov | legacy | Today, Rep. ShariceDavidsvoted to passH.Res271, a resolution condemning the Administration's attack on our health care system in the Texas v. U.S. lawsuit and calling on the Department of Justice to reverse its position in the case. The resolution was adopted. I'm committed to making sure more Kansans not fewer have access to quality, affordable healthcare, said Rep.Davids. If the Affordable Care Act is struck down, the1,200,300people in Kansas with pre-existing conditionscould lose their protections, and millions more people across the country would be stripped of their healthcare coverage. That's why I voted to condemn this attack and ensure people in the Third District still have access to quality, affordable health care. Last week, in federal court, the Administration attempted to not only end protections for people with pre-existing conditions, but to eliminate every single protection and benefit provided by the Affordable Care Act.If the courts agree withthis position, the followingprovisionswould beeliminated: Protections for people with pre-existing conditions; The ban on lifetime and annual limits on health coverage; The Medicaid expansion covering 15 million Americans; Health insurance affordability tax credits assisting 9 million Americans; Bans on discriminatory insurance practices thatmakewomen pay more for coverage; Young adults' ability to remain on their parents' insurance until age 26, and more. I'm working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to implement policies that improve our healthcare system and reduce costs for prescription drugs and premiums, saidDavids.Last week, weintroducedthe Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions & Making Health Care More Affordable Act, which would lower health insurance premiums, strengthen protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and reverse attacks on our healthcare system.I will continue to worktoprotectand strengthenour healthcare system. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
