Peter DeFazio (OR-04) today urged victims of Oregon's recent wildfires to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Registration is open for those affected by wildfires in Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn,and Marion counties until Monday, November 16. FEMA offers both home and business disaster assistance, which may include grants to helppay fortemporary housing, emergency home repairs for the primary residence, uninsured and underinsured personal property losses and medical expenses caused by thedisaster, along with other seriousdisaster-related expenses. DeFazio also encouraged individuals who have applied but had their applications rejected to continue working with FEMA to remedy their applications, as common errors such as misspellings can result in a rejection of otherwise eligible applications. The November 16 deadline does not apply to individuals who have already registered and are going through the appeals process with FEMA.
