Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas: "I want to commend President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken and the Administration for their successful efforts to bring about the recent agreement, which led to a temporary pause in hostilities to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the release of hostages, and the provision of humanitarian aid into Gaza. "I was disappointed that the negotiations broke down and hostilities have recommenced. "The U.S. must intensify its pressure to bring the parties back to the table to negotiate a mutual and permanent end to the violence. "This agreement should immediately end the fighting, release all remaining hostages, and allow massive humanitarian aid that can swiftly and safely bring essential food, water, fuel and medicine to all those impacted by the conflict. "In the meantime, to the greatest extent possible, the U.S. must continue to pressure Israel to minimize civilian causalities. "In the long term, the U.S. and our allies in the region – together with Israeli and Palestinian leadership – must urgently work towards a peace accord, including a two-state solution, that upholds the equality and dignity of all citizens to ensure the violence we saw on October 7 never happens again. "My sincere wish is for the U.S. and our allies to help the parties to this conflict reach a durable, peaceful resolution.
