From day one of the Special Counsel's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign, President Trump has been looking to oust Robert Mueller. Make no mistake, that is why he fired Attorney General Jeff Sessionsto try and gain control over an investigation which has resulted in dozens of people being indicted, including some of his closest aides. Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker's credibility and oversight of the Special Counsel's investigation are compromised. Sessions's interim replacement has made numerous statements and media appearances in which he has called the investigation a 'witch hunt.' The American people deserve to know the facts, and it is crucial that the Congress acts to protect the Special Counsel's investigation and prevent future assaults on our democracy. This investigation must conclude when it is complete, not when it is expedient for the President.
