This report is nothing but a bait and switch from President Trump and Secretary DeVos. After the terrible tragedy of the Parkland shooting, the President promised a roomful of students and an anxious nation that he would take action to reduce gun violence in our schools. Instead, his commissionchaired by Secretary DeVossidesteps the issue of guns, fails to advance real solutions to keep our students safe, blames the media, and serves as a Trojan horse for rollbacks that would hurt students. The hypocrisy of the commission's report is egregious. Secretary DeVos used public dollars to conduct a sham review of solutions to gun violence, while Republicans strenuously fight to block the federal government from doing real research into this issue. The epidemic of gun violencewhich has hurt or killed thousands of American childrenis a public health crisis that demands serious investigation.
