For this reason, I was proud to have voted in favor of passing H.R. 1, a Continuing Resolution that funds the government for the remainder of the fiscal year while instituting the largest spending cut since the end of World War II. Unfortunately, it seems that Senate Democrats still think government can continue down this path of fiscal irresponsibility and failed to take up and pass this bill. “In keeping with our promise to reduce spending, I voted today to pass a short-term Continuing Resolution introduced by House Republicans that contains over $4 billion in spending reductions and funds the government for the next two weeks, giving Senate Democrats time to consider our initial bill. It is important to note that this short-term CR cuts $4 billion over two weeks, an amount that will keep us on track for achieving the level of spending cuts that were proposed in the original bill. “I will continue to maintain a focus on reducing spending and limiting government.
