PS 5 is one of only 7,000 American schools to receive the award over the past 32 years. Congressman Donovan said, We should all be proud of PS 5s accomplishment. The schools principal, faculty, and students are a credit to our borough and our City. The U.S. Department of Education has honored outstanding schools with the National Blue Ribbon Award for 32 years. Award recipients distinguish themselves with a well-rounded teaching and training regime, propelling students and faculty to academic and professional excellence. Winners earn the National Blue Ribbon award by achieving high graduation rates and top-performing scores on state assessments. Donovan concluded, Once these students move on to high school and college, we must ensure theyre not burdened with unsustainable student loan debt. Their job for the coming years is to focus on their studies and position themselves for future success. Ours is to reform the current system to allow them to pursue their dreams unburdened by decades of debt. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
