https://doyle.house.gov/media/press-releases/doyle-votes-replace-nafta Doyle Votes to Replace NAFTA 2019-12-19 2019 2019-12 Democrat House PA Mike Doyle D000482 doyle.house.gov     legacy Washington, DC December 19, 2019 U.S. Representative Mike Doyle (PA-18) released the following statement today after the House voted to implement the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement as a replacement for NAFTA. I voted in favor of H.R. 5430, legislation to implement the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, because I believe that the revised trade agreement we had before us today was a clear improvement over NAFTA. Democrats and Labor were able to substantially improve the USMCA agreement that President Trump originally submitted. The addition of critically important enforcement provisions, which are much stronger than in the original version of the USMCA, are one of the reasons I decided to vote in favor of the USMCA. The USMCA is still far from perfect, however. It won't stop outsourcing, for example, and some of the key environmental protections we fought for weren't included in the final agreement. So while this agreement was an important first step, there remains much more to be done to fix our nation's trade policies. I look forward to continue fighting for trade agreements that benefit American workers. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
